Early season snowfall allowed managers of Eaglecrest Ski Area to move the projected opening date to Saturday, Nov. 28, up from Dec. 5.
"Mother Nature has been very kind to us and the mountain is looking very good," General Manager Kirk Duncan said in a statement. "We still have many things to do before we open, but if the weather holds, I feel that opening a week earlier than planned is a very good possibility."
The area received 47 inches of snow over the past eight days, according to the area's Web site. Only the Ptarmigan chairlift, serving moderate and advanced terrain, will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday of opening weekend.
"We would recommend, however, that only advanced and expert skiers (come up)," said Jeffra Clough, director of sales and marketing at Eaglecrest.
Last year the area had a limited opening date of Dec. 13, a week after the budgeted opening date.
The repair shop at Eaglecrest is already open and will be Sunday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
