JCS boys, Haines girls tops at Worley tourney

The Juneau Christian School boys and Haines girls went undefeated to win their respective titles at the Boyd Worley middle school basketball tourney in Skagway on Nov. 15-16.

JCS players Michael Jacobson, Logan Lee, Scott Bergman and Jacob Hotch made the tourney's all-star team for the boys. Haines' Kyle Fossman won most vaulable player honors.

Haines' James Hart and Orion Falvey and Skagway's Brent Beckner and Mickey Wilson rounded out the boys' all-star team.

Christine Hansen of Haines was the girls' MVP. Girls named to the all-star team were Briana Donahue, Marissa Worley, Danielle Orbistondo and Kaitlyn Sanders of JCS; Stojanka Lende, J.J. Lende and Teslyn Visscher of Haines; and Sierra Moran of Skagway.

Hansen and Fossman also won their respective 3-point shooting contests at the tournament. C.C. Hahn of Skagway won the girls' free-throw competition, while Bryce Jones of Skagway won the boys' free-throw contest.
