Reifenstein and Gende marry

Ami Lynn Reifenstein and Scott Michael Gende were married on Aug. 19, 2005, in a garden ceremony at the home of the bride's parents on Auke Lake in Juneau. Ron Bressette officiated, and Fred Baxter gave the blessing. Both are close friends of the family.

The bride is the daughter of Debbie and George Reifenstein of Juneau. She is a graduate of Juneau-Douglas High School and received a bachelor of arts degree from Western Washington University. She is now pursuing a second degree in the health sciences field at the University of Alaska Southeast. The bride is employed part-time as a fitness instructor and wilderness guide.

The groom is the son of Barbara Carroll of Chicago, and Ron Gende of Moline, Ill. Scott graduated from Alleman High School in Moline. He earned his bachelor of science degree from Iowa State, his M.S. from the University of Alaska and his Ph.D. from the University of Washington. He is employed by the National Park Service as a coastal research ecologist.

The maid of honor was Heidi Reifenstein, sister of the bride, and the best man was Nat Lazzaretti. The ring bearer was the couple's 2-year-old son, Gavin Carroll Gende. Many friends and family participated in the ceremony. A reception followed at the Mount Roberts Tramway.

The couple and their son honeymooned in Italy and will continue to call Juneau their home.
