ANCHORAGE - A 23-year-old Wasilla man was sentenced to 30 years for the shaking death of his infant daughter.
Burton Naczi was sentenced Friday in Palmer in connection with the death of 6-month old daughter, Kaydence Lewinski last year.
In August, Naczi pleaded no contest to second-degree murder.
Naczi initially told the baby's mother he had tripped while carrying Kaydence and fell down some stairs.
According to court documents, the injuries to Kaydence Lewinski were not discovered until her mother, 19-year-old Stephanie Lewinski, brought the infant home from a 22-hour visit with Naczi and noticed the girl had extensive bruising and seemed lethargic.
Naczi eventually told state troopers he shook the baby and threw her on a couch.
At his sentencing hearing, Naczi apologized to the Lewinski family and his family, and asked the court for "mercy in judgment."
