Two vehicles collide on Glacier Highway

JUNEAU - A 45-year-old woman was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital Sunday for precautionary evaluation after a two-vehicle accident on Glacier Highway near Central Avenue.

A 2003 Saturn lost control on the icy road and slid into the oncoming lane, colliding with a 2007 Mazda, according to Juneau police.

The Mazda had two occupants who were not injured.

The Saturn continued to slide on the roadway and went over a 7-foot embankment, and rolled over into a ditch.

Capital City Fire and Rescue transported the Saturn driven to the hospital.

The accident occurred at about 1:30 p.m.

Glacier Highway was closed for about 30 minutes.
