Volunteer of the Year Award nominee: Eldrid Lyshol

Sound off on the important issues at

Volunteer organization: Love Inc.

Years of service: two years.

Love Inc. Executive Director Donald Phelps, says: "Eldrid was the first volunteer to step forward in June 2005 to say she would do anything and everything for this new agency. Eldrid's devotion and tireless efforts on behalf of the disadvantaged make her a worthy representative of all the wonderful volunteers at Love Inc., of Juneau. ... Eldrid performs this role (as clearinghouse representative) with the thoroughness and compassion that is needed. It is obvious that she has care and respect for each client she speaks with. ... Eldrid goes the extra mile. ... Eldrid regularly pitches in to deliver boxes of food to clients and will not pass up an opportunity to visit a lonely or elderly client in need of a loving ear to listen and a kind voice to cheer. She takes to heart the needs of our clients, and it is not uncommon for her to make extraordinary donations. ... If Love Inc., had a 'morale leader,' it would be Eldrid, as she takes joy in finding ways to brighten the days of staff and volunteers."
