The three actors from Juneau Lyric Opera's May production of "Little Red Riding Hood" will re-stage their performance Thanksgiving weekend at Nugget Mall.
"We had a really good time back in May, but the weather back then was beautiful," said Michael Wittig (Wolf/Woodsman). "We had slight audiences at McPhetres Hall. However, at the school shows, the kids thought it was the greatest thing. We felt bad more weren't able to see it."
The mall offered a venue, in the empty room across the concourse from Hearthside Books.
"Little Red" plays at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26; and 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 27 and 28. Seating will be in a row of chairs around the perimeter of the room, and on the floor. Admission is $5, and the show runs approximately 50 minutes.
"It really is a kids' show," Wittig said, "and seating them on the floor gets them a little bit closer and more intimate to the show. We found that worked well with the school performances."
Kathleen Wayne plays Little Red Riding Hood, and Cyndee Sugar portrays Mother and Grandmother. Pianist Sue Kazama will provide musical accompaniment.
With a few minor changes, the show is the same as May's production. Legendary children's opera composer Seymour Barab wrote the adaptation.
