ANCHORAGE - Alaska is free of body-scanning X-ray machines at airports, but not the security pat-downs.
The Anchorage Daily News reports none of the X-ray body scanners have been installed in Alaska. The airports at Anchorage and Fairbanks may get them next fall.
Anchorage International Airport manager John Parrott said he petitioned federal officials not to install the machines during the summer - Alaska's busiest flying season.
Many Alaska travelers can expect to get frisked, especially if they forget to remove items that trigger metal detectors.
