Perkins named alto 1's first chair at state festival

Posted: Friday, November 26, 2004

Lindsay Perkins, a Juneau-Douglas High School senior, was selected as first chair of the Alto 1 section of the All-State Mixed Choir at the All-State Music Festival in Anchorage on Nov. 20.

The first-chair honor designated Perkins as the top-rated Alto 1 for the All-State Mixed Choir. A panel of judges scored audition tapes from 85 Alto 1 choir members from high schools throughout the state. Perkins performed with the 158-member All-State Mixed Choir in a concert at West High School in Anchorage.

Leading the Alaska All-State Mixed Choir was guest conductor Jing Ling-Tam, who is the director of choral studies at the University of Texas at Arlington. A nationally-renowned conductor, she has conducted more than 20 All-State choirs throughout the United States.
