ANCHORAGE - A missing grenade launcher almost sank Thanksgiving for troops at Fort Richardson.
Commanders at the Anchorage base ordered an entire Army battalion to base Tuesday evening and Thanksgiving leaves were postponed.
The problem? A missing grenade launcher.
Army spokesman Maj. Bill Coppernoll says the weapon was located about 5 p.m. Wednesday in a military vehicle on base. He says the brigade commander was preparing to decide whether troops would have had to continue the search Thanksgiving Day when the weapon was located.
