I've never been so grossed out in my life. My family went to Douglas for the annual tree-lighting, and I could not believe how many people brought their dogs with them. Both my daughters stepped in fresh piles of dog poop. Leave the dogs at home.

I think it would be interesting if we went back to the days when whoever lost the presidential election became vice president. There might be less negative and backstabbing-type politics.

I'd like to thank whoever it was that put up the "slower traffic keep right" signs on Egan. As a driver who goes between 55 and 60, which is actually speeding since I'm going over the legal speed of 55, I will stay firmly entrenched in the left-hand lane where us faster drivers are going to drive.

Regarding a letter in the Sunday paper, you sure are showing your ignorance of the fact that Democrats are proud vets also.

Once again our local police have shown their intelligence by busting two 12-year-old boys for simply walking down the road with gaff hooks. It's a good thing those boys didn't have BB guns or they'd probably be up on suspected murder charges. Hey, Juneau police, let's stop harassing the kids and do your job, OK?

I'd like to thank GCI and CBS for showing the first 95 percent of the Tampa Bay football game and then, with two minutes left in a 7-point game, switching to the pre-game show for the next football game. You guys are the Cincinnati Bengals of the broadcast world.

I was just wondering when the Juneau Police Department is going to start enforcing the parking in the Douglas area on boats being parked out in the street.

In regard to the shortage of state employees: There is no shortage. The managers have expectations that far exceed a candidate's abilities. Basically, there are good employees out there that can fill many of these positions, but the expectations of the hiring manager exceed what that position is supposed to be.

What is it with those filthy ragged flags flying over the Mendenhall Post Office?

I'd like to thank Sealaska for that wonderful Christmas tree. I hope they leave it up all year round.

To all parents who have kids in daycare: Please do surprise visits. Do you really know what's going on? Check them out.

I find it interesting that when I called in a complaint to report unsecured garbage to JPD, I was told that there is only one garbage officer for the entire borough. Yet when someone calls in a bear report, many officers respond. If the same response was given to unsecured garbage, maybe fewer bears would be shot.
