Juneau-Douglas High School hockey - The Juneau-Douglas High School hockey team takes on Kenai Central at Treadwell Arena. Friday's game starts at 8 p.m. while Saturday's faceoff is at 7 p.m.
Holiday Cup 2006 - The Holiday Cup Competitive Indoor Soccer Tournament will be held Dec. 16-31. There are five coed divisions - grades 4-5, middle school, high school ages 16 and under, ages 17-20 and masters division for ages 21 and over. Coaches and managers interested in sponsoring a team must submit a roster by Dec. 6. Team entries only. Hilary Lindh Eaglecrest Season Pass Scholarship - Students in grades K-12 can win a free season pass to Eaglecrest Ski Area this winter. Applications for the Hilary Lindh Eaglecrest Season Pass Scholarship are available at local school offices, Nugget Alaskan Outfitters, Play It Again Sports, Foggy Mountain Shop and Eaglecrest Snowsports Schools and online at www.skijuneau.com. One boys and one girl will win the season pass. The Eaglecrest Board of Directors chooses its winners from applicants who have maintained a 'C' average for the previous school year and currently attend school in the Juneau School District or equivalent. The program was established in 1992 in recognition of Lindh's silver medal performance in the 1992 Winter Olympics and the hard work she dedicated to downhill ski racing. Co-ed Master's Indoor Soccer Sunday - The Co-Ed Master's Soccer Sundays is for experienced men and women soccer players over the age of 30. There will be no formal teams and no referees. HoopTime registration - The HoopTime basketball program is now taking registration for players in grades 5 through 8. The 2007 HoopTime season starts Jan 2. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served bases. Registration deadline is Nov. 30, late registration ends Dec. 6. Mt. Jumbo Gym Preschool Open Gym - The Mt. Jumbo Preschool Open Gym starts Sept. 5. This gym is open to the pblic on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to noon for all children ages 1-6. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at a maximum ration of four children to one adult. Play equipment and tumbling mats are provided. There is a $1 per child cost for the program. Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Recreation Hikes Hotline. Always remember to bring plenty of food and water, wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms are allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Saturday hikes are open to families, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
