PALMER - The Natural Resources Conservation Service State Technical Committee will meet at the NRCS state office conference room on Wednesday Dec. 2 at 9 a.m.
The NRCS offices are located at 800 West Evergreen Avenue, Palmer. The meeting will adjourn at noon and agenda items include an overview of NRCS administered Farm Bill programs such as the Environmental Quality Incentive Program, Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program, Conservation Stewardship Program and Conservation Initiative Grant, and will include presentations from the NRCS staff on the Wetland Reserve Program's geographic area rate caps, a possible new interim practice to take place in Alaska and ecological site descriptions.
The meeting is open to the public.
NRCS provides products and services to enable people to be good stewards of the nation's soil, water and related natural resources on non-federal lands.
The NRCS State Technical Committee provides advice on a number of issues within a variety of NRCS conservation programs. Although the State Technical Committee has no implementation or enforcement authority, USDA gives strong consideration to the Committee's recommendations.
