University seeks entries for Tidal Echoes

JUNEAU - the University of Alaska Southeast is now accepting submissions for its 2009 edition of Tidal Echoes, the region's only literary journal.

All full-time residents of Southeast are eligible to enter. If your work is previously published and you retain rights, we'll be happy to consider it for a second publication. UAS students (full or part time) are particularly encouraged to apply.

Participants may submit work in more than one genre. Please include name and address on each page of the submission. UAS students should include UAS student ID number on each page.

Poetry is limited to five poems. Prose is limited to 15 pages, double-spaced. Tidal Echoes welcomes fiction, flash fiction, creative nonfiction, creative and personal essays, transcribed oral stories, and short plays. Participants may send cohesive partial pieces, such as one scene from a play or story.

Artwork is limited to five pieces. All art forms are welcome, including pottery, printmaking, sculpture, painting, photography, drawing, beadwork, carving, basketry, etc. All work must be submitted in a digital format (preferably as a .tif or .jpg) via disk or e-mail. Resources are available on the UAS Juneau campus for scanning art or photographing three-dimensional art. Contact Jeremy Kane at or 796-6222 with questions or for help.

Submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter that includes contact information (name, address, phone number and e-mail address), UAS student ID (if a student), the title of each submission and a short bio (three to five sentences). If work has been previously published and you retain first time rights, include information about the first publication.
