Posted: Friday, November 28, 2008

JUNEAU - An Anchorage man serving in Afghanistan received a personal Thanksgiving Day call from President Bush.

The White House says U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Kevin R. Everett was among 11 soldiers nationwide to hear from Bush on Thursday.

Everett was deployed as a member of the 101st Division Special Troop Battalion. He trains incoming soldiers on tactical operations.

Everett is on his second rotation.

He joins fellow soldiers stationed in Afghanistan, Iraq and Kyrgyzstan who took calls from Bush.

From Camp David, Bush told them how proud he was of their service to the United States.
