After reading the letter in Sunday's paper shaming the Democrats, I saw everything I dislike about the Republicans. I hope the writer's children don't grow up with the same kind of attitude he has.

I want to thank GCI Cable for "improving" its service by reducing the number of tiers from three to two, raising the cost of the cheapest by almost a third and by dropping TBS, where most of the best movies are shown as well as The Learning Channel and the Channel Channel and replacing them with intermittent local programming and two congressional channels.

It's pretty bad when Juneau Boxing Club is supposed to benefit kids and they're promoting alcohol.

Will lights be put up at the dark intersection on Glacier Highway before there is another accident?

I loved the Douglas tree-lighting event, dog poop and all.

It's great to have another furniture store in town. Everybody benefits from competition.

I'd like to see some local art, maybe Tlingit symbols, painted or hung on the side of Douglas Bridge. I think it would add distinction to our skyline. I'm not suggesting high-dollar art. But the end result could be something distinctively Juneau.

I wish the Midnight Sun elite softball team's coaches would call the newspaper when they are out of town and let their contributors know how they are doing.

I'd like to disagree strongly with Sen. Stevens' effort to convey 1,500 acres of land with the Point Retreat light. I think 10 acres would be great for that use. I happen to be a registered Republican who voted for Stevens but I disagree with him on this issue.

People who drive 55 in the left land and who get passed by vehicles in the right lane need to move to the right lane. And, the slow signs should be on the left side of the road.

Yea! I made it home safe and sound in the dark during the power outage. Juneau drivers are so good. Thank you very much to the polite people out there.

It is absolutely outrageous that Al Gore, who wants to be president and commander-in-chief of the armed forces, would have his army of attorneys try to block or disqualify the votes of military personnel voting from abroad or at sea. I will never again vote for a Democrat at any level - local, state or federal.

City buses and school buses should have seatbelts and passengers should be required to wear them.
