Dealing with diabetes

As a future health care professional, I will be dealing with many people with diabetes. I would like to offer some suggestions for those that may not know they have diabetes. It is a good idea for everyone to get tested for diabetes. I get tested every year. My father died of complications of diabetes when I was 31 years old. By getting a Fasting Plasma Glucose Test from your doctor or local clinic, you will be on your way to a healthier life.

Those at high risk are dealing with obesity and don't exercise regularly, but anyone can have diabetes. If you find you do have diabetes, there are some very good Web sites like that of the American Diabetes Association, Medline Plus and the Wal-Mart Health Center.

There is good information about medication, diet and exercise on these sites and using this information can help someone with diabetes live a long, healthy and happy life. Get tested today and live.
