State Age Group Swimming Championships - The Glacier Swim Club will be hosting the State Age Group Championships at Augustus Brown Pool from Dec. 2-4. Jingle Jog - The JRC/TAC Aerobics Conference Team is sponsoring the 12th Annual Jingle Jog race. Pre-registration is taking place at either JRC/The Alaska Club location. Check in time is between 9:30 a.m. and 9:55 a.m. at the day of the race at the JRC/The Alaska Club valley location. Start time is 10 a.m. Entry fee is $10, $12 day of the race. Juneau 4H Ski Club sign up and gear check out - The club for students in grades K-12 are encouraged to come out to the Nugget Mall to sign up for the Ski Club. Returning memebers should arrive from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. while new and returning members should attend from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Membership fee is $6 while ski equipment rental is $50, with $20 refunded if you attent 7-of-10 sessions. The ski club will have skis, boots and pole available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis at the sign-up. The club also has classic ski equipment and some skate skiing equipment. HoopTime Basketball Registration - Registration materials will be sent via email for returning players on or about Dec. 1. Registration materials will also be available at the HoopTime Web Site at www.juneau.com/hooptime/index.html. Open registration will begin Dec. 17 at the Nugget Mall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will continue through Dec. 30. HoopTime is open to 5th through 8th graders. 4th graders are welcome is there is room available at the 5th grade level. Info: Brian Goettler, 790-4504.
Holiday Cup Competitive Indoor Soccer Tournament - This annual soccer tournament will take place Dec. 17-31. There will be five co-ed divisions - Grades 4-5, Middle School, High school ages 16-and-under, Senior Division ages 17-20, and Masters Division ages 21-and-over. Coaches and managers interested in sponsoring a team must submit a roster by Nov. 30. Team entries only. Electronic versions of the registration packet are available. Juneau Parks and Recreation: Youth Basketball Registration - Youth basketball registration begins Saturday, Nov. 5 and continues at the P&R main office or at the Zach Gordon Youth Center through Nov. 21. There will be space-available registration after Nov. 21 is teams are not full. Registration forms can be found on the P&R website (www.juneau.org/parksrec), follow the line to youth sports and youth basketball. Kids between the ages 6-18 are encouraged to sign up. Volunteer coaches and paid referees are needed for the program. Training is available. Applications for referees and volunteers can be requested from the P&R office. Community Schools Open Adult Gym time - There will be open adult gym at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School for soccer on Fridays from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. For basketball and volleyball, there will be open gym time on Sundays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There is a $5 fee and players should bring their own soccer balls, basketballs or volleyballs. Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation scorekeepers needed - Juneau Parks and Recreation is looking for basketball scorekeepers for the 2005-06 Ordway Basketball season. Mount Jumbo preschool open gym - Preschool open gyms for children ages 1-6 and an adult parent or caregiver takes place from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays through April 28. There must be at least one adult present for every four kids. There is a $1 per child fee or punchcards for $10 or $50 can be bought at the gym, which is located at 909 4th St. in Douglas. Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19-older. Basketball/volleyball court rentals available - The Juneau Community Schools program has basketball/volleyball court rental times available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School.
