Nonprofit courses

The Foraker Group will offer the following classes for nonprofit organizations in Juneau Dec. 1 at REACH, 213 Third St.: "Public Relations: Getting the Right Message to the Right Audience at the Right Time," 11 a.m.-3 p.m., and Effective Board Communication, 4-6 p.m. For more information, call (877) 834-5003.

Business courses

The Juneau Small Business Development Center will present the class "Keeping the Books for Small Business" on Dec. 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Juneau Empire building, third- floor conference room. Participants will learn about the basic accounting methods and systems, keeping books current, filing requirements, record retention and how good bookkeeping records are used by owners and managers to make important business decisions. Red Cross course

If you would enjoy becoming a Certified American Red Cross Health and Safety Instructor and empower people with the skills they need to save lives, the American Red Cross will be holding instructor classes on Jan. 11 and 12 from 6 to 10 p.m., and Jan. 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Prerequisites for instructor training include current CPR/AED & First Aid certifications. Pet first-aid class

The American Red Cross is holding a Pet First Aid class Jan. 23, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the local Red Cross office, 3200 Hospital Drive. Participants will learn how to administer care to an injured animal until it can be taken to a veterinarian for more definitive medical care and attention.
