ANCHORAGE - A young child was killed in St. Mary's when her mother accidentally ran her over with a truck.
Alaska State Troopers say the accident occurred Saturday.
Troopers say 32-year-old Arlene Paukan was driving the truck behind her daughter and another child, who were pulling a sled, when she took her eyes off the children to look over at an approaching snowmachine.
Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters says that's when the woman ran over her child.
Troopers say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
St. Mary's is a village of about 550 people near the lower Yukon River.
