Assembly opening has three applicants

FAIRBANKS - Three people have applied for a vacancy on the Fairbanks North Star Borough Assembly as the Dec. 1 deadline approaches.

The applicants are Glenn Shaw, Karl Kassel and Diane Hutchison. Shaw is a landlord, Kassel is a former borough parks and recreation director and Hutchison was the director of the Fairbanks office of former U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens.

The vacancy opened when Luke Hopkins became mayor. The assembly last had a vacancy two years ago; 13 people applied.
