JUNEAU - Gov. Sean Parnell has picked Fairbanks attorney John J. Burns to be Alaska's new attorney general.
Burns will replace Dan Sullivan, who has been named to lead the Department of Natural Resources.
The 51-year-old Burns is in private practice with the firm Borgeson & Burns. The firm specializes in business, property, insurance defense and family law, according to its website.
Parnell's spokeswoman says Burns is expected to begin mid-December.
Parnell has been naming cabinet members ahead of his being sworn for his first full term as governor Monday.
