SITKA - A Feb. 7 trial date has been set for the owner of a Sitka fishing lodge and a charter skipper who runs day-trips based at the lodge.

Prosecutors in October state filed 18 misdemeanor charges against boat captain Eric Morisky and six against Dove Island Lodge.

The Sitka Sentinel reports Morisky is accused of aiding or permitting violations of fishing regulations, making false entries in his sport fish logbook and fishing with more lines than the maximum limit.

Charges against Dove Island include taking an overlimit of fish, making false entries into logbooks and furnishing shellfish to clients.

The charges stem from a sting operation in June 2009, when Alaska State Troopers posing as out-of-state charter clients booked a three-day fishing trip at the lodge.
