Posted: Wednesday, December 01, 2010

The Alaska Marine Highway System has made several schedule changes to accommodate upcoming sporting events in Southeast.

The ferry Kennicott will make a trip up Lynn Canal today, making stops in Skagway and Haines for passengers traveling to a basketball tournament in Juneau, according to a release from the state Department of Transportation & Public Facilities. Meanwhile the ferry Aurora will add a stop in Sitka today for people coming to the basketball tournament as well.

Sunday, the Aurora will add a stop in Angoon before arriving in Kake for returning tournament participants, while the ferry Fairweather will make a round-trip sailing from Juneau to Sitka for wrestlers participating in the Region V tournament. On Monday, the Aurora will delay its departure from Auke Bay until 8 a.m. to accommodate wrestlers arriving on the Malaspina.
