Former Juneau resident David James Fadaoff died Nov. 27, 2008, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage. He was 49.
A logger and commercial fisherman, he grew up in a number of areas in Alaska, including Kodiak, Hoonah, Anchorage and Juneau. A Juneau resident for five years, he attended elementary school in Kodiak and Lake Quinault High School in Amanda Park, Wash. He also lived in Pasadena, Texas.
While in high school, he received trophies for track, basketball and football. As he grew older, he enjoyed watching football and reminiscing with his friends.
While he was in the U.S. Army, he served in Germany. He was a Southeast Alaska Native Veterans member, Central Council Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska tribal citizen, Sealaska Corp. shareholder and Goldbelt Inc. shareholder.
He enjoyed being with his friends and family.
He is survived by his mother, Charlotte McConnell; brother, Alexander J. Fadaoff Jr., of Juneau; sister, Sabrina Vinson, of Spokane, Wash.; aunt, Beatrice Brown, of Juneau; uncles, Jacob White Sr., of Hoonah, Jerry White Sr., of Hoonah, and Pete McCluskey Sr., of Angoon; and numerous cousins and other family members.
A family viewing will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, and a memorial and funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall.
Pallbearers are Pete McCluskey Jr., Thomas Skeek, Brandon Cook and Richard Bean Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob White Sr., Jerry White Sr., Ronald Fadaoff and Peter Marks.
