Fredrick George Gallant II passed away Nov. 18, 2010 in Sitka.
His Tlingit name was Kalaxeitl, He was Eagle-Thunderbird, Shangukeidi.
He is survived by his grandmother Anita Lafferty; mother Lillian Sonya Sheakley; father Fred Gallant; daughters Stormy Dawn Gallant, Calista Cheyenne Gallant, Haley Rose Gallant; granddaughter Echo Rayne Gallant; siblings Pauly Jackson Jr. of Anchorage, Willie Jackson of Anchorage, Jimmy and wife Vera Jackson of Juneau, Dorthy Jackson of Anchorage, Tonya Gallant of Juneau, Tom Gallant of Juneau, Larry (April) Jackson of Juneau and many more uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He graduated in Juneau on Jan. 6, 1997. He was a hard worker from the early years of working log ships making everyone smile, to serving nobly as a volunteer Sitka firefighter, and finally as a caring security guard at Mount Edgecombe Hospital.
He confided to his family all the goals and dreams that he had for his beautiful daughters and granddaughter. He wanted them to grow to be strong, independent women completing their college education and traveling the world. He had a strong desire for them to have a good education, encouraged them to stay involved in sports and hobbies for a positive healthy lifestyle and a love of the Tlingit culture.
He was preceded in death by great-grandfather David Kadashan, great-grandmother Ida Hopkins Kadashan, grandfather Warren Sheakley Sr., father Paul Jackson Sr., sister Carol Jackson, son Jamie Lind and son Skyler Jaksoniak.
Services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall.
