59 teams sign up for 2011 Iditarod

ANCHORAGE - The last musher to sign up for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race next year is five-time champion Rick Swenson.

Race organizers say the last day to sign up for the 2011 race was Tuesday.

Fifty-nine teams signed up but that number could grow. At least three mushers have confirmed that they have already mailed in their 2011 entry packages.

The 1,100-mile race from Anchorage to Nome begins the first weekend in March.
