Woman arrested in Brevig Mission stabbing

NOME - A 29-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in the stabbing death of a Brevig Mission man.

Alaska State Troopers say Jessica Olanna of Brevig Mission is charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of 35-year-old Andrew Tocktoo. Troopers say Olanna was set for an arraignment Wednesday in Nome, 65 miles southeast of the village.

The killing was reported to troopers in Nome early Tuesday.

Troopers, who went to the village to investigate, have released no information regarding the circumstances.

Brevig Mission is an Inupiat Eskimo community of 358 people.
