Juneau-Douglas City museum to host Native arts and crafts fair

JUNEAU - The annual Native Arts & Craft Fair will take place this weekend, 4:30-8 p.m. Friday and noon-4 p.m. Saturday, at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum.

Meet local Alaska Native artists and learn as they demonstrate techniques and sell their wares. Silver, ivory and wood carvings, woven baskets, beadwork, halibut hooks and more will be displayed for sale. The museum's gift shop, offering books by local authors, jewelry, cards and gifts, also will be open to the public for holiday shopping.

For those needing to wrap a gift, the holiday activity table will have gift tags, wrapping paper, fancy ribbon bows and more available. The activity table will be open 1-4 p.m. Saturday. Drop-in fee for the activity table is $5.

This event is co-sponsored by Sealaska Heritage Institute and the Juneau-Douglas City Museum. For more information, visit www.juneau.org/parkrec/museum or call 586-3572.
