AK Dames 2, Orange 2
Orange's Marsha Squirers put her team on top off an assist from Tami Watts with five minutes to play in the first period, but the teams traded even jabs the rest of the way as they ended their night in a tie.
Kristin Bartlett knotted up the score early in the second for AK Dames with an unassisted goal, before Squirers answered back with another helper from Watts just two minutes later. Becca Parks closed out the scoring with 9:30 still on the clock in the second, picking up an unassisted netter of her own.
AK Dames were outshot by Orange 34-16, but goalie Jodie Pessolano came up smelling like roses with 32 saves.
Red 1, Green 0
Rebecca Parks broke a scoreless tie with the only goal of the game very early in the second period, getting an assist from teammate Gina White.
Goalie Jess Parks was perfect in the net for Red, picking up 28 saves. Her Orange counterpart Greg Cazemier blocked 19 shots, but came up one short.
MEN'S A TIER
Doc Waters 5, Green 3
A late-blooming shootout helped Doc Waters eliminate Green from the JAHA playoffs.
Thomas Mckenzie and Clayton Jernigan finally opened up the scoring with a goal apiece for Doc Waters in the final three minutes of the first period, but Nate Haddock and Dan Teske stormed back with a pair of their own for Green early in the second period to knot up the score.
Doc Waters did their best work late yet again, though, as Michael Wunderlich closed out the period with a score off assists from Jernigan and Chris Merti. Three more goals in the third sealed the win.
Justin Fantasia added Green's only other score with less than a minute remaining.
Kensington 3, Island Pub 2
Albert Svensson found the net in every period to pick up the hat trick and help Kensington eliminate Island Pub from the JAHA playoffs.
Svensson's final goal came with just six seconds remaining in the third to provide the final margin. He was unassisted on the play. Matt Foss provided the team's only assist on Svensson's score in the second period.
Dave Kovach tied the score at 2-2 for Island Pub with nine minutes remaining in the third off an assist from Jeff Nichols. A stellar defensive effort fell short, however, at the very end.
MEN'S B TIER
Yellow 6, Good Hardware 4
Yellow jumped out to an early 2-0 lead off a pair of goals from Michelle Ridgway with nearly 11 minutes still left in the first period, and outscored Good Hardware in an offensive battle the rest of the way.
Ridgway's first early goal was unassisted, while Jeffery Johns provided a helper on the second. Johns added a score of his own during the five-goal second period.
Thomas Fletcher picked up a goal and an assist to help lead Good Hardware's effort. Nine different players scored between the teams in the game.
Bleu Chunks 5, Orange 0
Five different players scored for Bleu Chunks as they eliminated Orange from the JAHA B Tier playoffs.
Tom Schwartz kicked off the scoring with the opening period's only goal, coming with three minutes remaining.
Brant Oliphant provided the only goal of the second, finding the net just as the period began.
Bret Connell, Pat Malecha and TJ Lazar each added a score in the third, as Bleu Chunks outshot Orange 22-6.
