While leaving the Gold Town Nickelodeon this weekend after having watched yet another great movie, I thought to myself - as I have many times before - how lucky Juneauites are to live in a community that can appear both insular and diverse, yet at all times is so richly blessed to have such a broad offering of events and entertainment.
Several people in line for the movie were buzzing with anticipation and excitement, and appreciation that they could see the film locally. One person said, "I knew if it was shown anywhere, it'd be shown here."
The point I'd like to make regarding the excellent cultural fare we have to choose from in this town is this: Use it or lose it. It's easy to take such things for granted, but if any of it were to go away it would be sorely missed.
