Former Juneau-Douglas High School standout basketball player Mary Rehfeld was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference West Division player of the week last Monday.
Rehfeld is a sophomore forward for Colorado State University-Pueblo. She graduated from JDHS in 2005.
"This is totally unexpected," Rehfeld said in a press release. "I'm pretty much blown away by it. It's a great honor and it was all made possible by my teammates."
The 5-foot-10 forward averaged 22 points and seven rebounds in wins over Midwestern State and Oklahoma Panhandle State last weekend.
She posted 31 points and nine rebounds, both career highs, in a 66-54 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Nov. 25

Rehfeld kick-started an 17-4 run by the ThunderWolves it open the second half with 11 straight points.
"We did a great job of running our offense," Rehfeld said in the release. "Our guards drove inside and drew the defense then found me with great kick-out passes.
On Nov. 24, Rehfeld scored 13 points in a 62-56 overtime win over Midwestern State. Eight of her points came during a decisive 16-4 run to open the second half for CSU-Pueblo (2-4). She added five points and three assists in the win.
"Everyone knows that Mary can shoot the 3-ball, but she showed this weekend that she can score in a lot of different ways," CSU-Pueblo coach Kip Drown said in the release. "She had some nice post moves, made a couple of buckets inside and put the ball on the floor to earn trips to the free throw line. She has become an all-around player."
The ThunderWolves fell to the University of Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday and Minnesota State, Mankato, on Friday.
