Police: 15-year-old girl kidnapped, assaulted

Juneau police said they are looking for a kidnapper who sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl and then let her go two hours later.

The girl was walking by herself near Floyd Dryden Middle School at about 7 p.m. Tuesday when a man grabbed her and forced her into his car and later sexually assaulted her, police said.

The man drove the girl away from the school and the girl did not know where she was driven, according to Juneau Police Department Spokeswoman Cindee Brown-Mills.

Two hours later the girl was released by her abductor, police said.

Brown-Mills said she was taken to the hospital.

Police said the abductor was a white man, aged 30-40, who drove a sedan-type vehicle with a gray interior. The man has short blond hair, is of average height and weight and has a thin build, police said.

Brown-Mills said police increased patrols around schools and were taking the case very seriously.

"We are definitely pursuing all leads to the end," Brown-Mills said.

Police are asking that anyone with any information related to the crime contact the Juneau Police Department at 586-0600 or the Juneau Crime Line at 586-4243.
