JUNEAU - A 25-year-old Angoon man was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting two teenage girls.

Richard J. Hunt Jr. was sentenced in Angoon Superior Court to 20 years in prison with 10 years suspended for two consolidated counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree. Hunt must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Hunt originally pleaded guilty to a total of seven counts of abuse against the two girls. He admitted to sexually abusing a 14- and a 15-year-old girl in Angoon during the summer of 2008.

Superior Court Judge Patricia Collins traveled from Juneau to Angoon to preside over the sentencing hearing. It is first time a Superior Court case has been held in Angoon for many years, according to the Alaska State Troopers.
