FAIRBANKS - State House Republicans have confirmed Tammie Wilson's appointment to represent District 11 in the North Pole area.
That cleared the way for a swearing-in ceremony Thursday with Lt. Gov. Craig Campbell in Fairbanks.
She replaces John Coghill in the House of Representatives. He was appointed to the state Senate.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports Wilson's appointment will create a vacancy on the borough assembly.
The 48-year-old Republican recently lost a close contest to Democrat Luke Hopkins in the Fairbanks Borough mayor's race.
She says one of her priorities will be getting natural gas and affordable energy to the area.
