AARP to start gift wrapping project

The annual AARP holiday gift wrapping project will begin Dec. 11 at the Nugget Mall. Monday through Saturday, wrapping hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday wrapping hours will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve wrapping hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Folks are welcome to bring any items they wish gift-wrapped. Boxes of many sizes are donated by mall merchants, and a wide choice of paper designs are available.

Proceeds, less expenses for the wrapping paper, tape, etc., are given to local senior programs. This project is made possible entirely by volunteers. If you would like to help, call Gene at 586-3816, or Pat at 586-2626.

More than $1,000 raised for family

Do you remember this can? Local donations have raised $1,040.85 for Skyler Lee Kim's family. The total amount was deposited to the family's FMBA account on Nov. 6, 2003.

The family wants to thank all the people who donated, as well as Jovany's Restaurant, Floyd Dryden Middle School, Riverbend Elementary School and Midnight Suns for displaying the cans.
