Lifelong Juneau resident Toni Marie Navarro died Nov. 26, 2008, at Mountain View Apartments in Juneau. She was 52.
Born Sept. 24, 1956, in Juneau, she was of the EAK tribe. Her family is from the Cordova-Yakutat area, and she was recently told she was a descendant of "The Ice Man" by DNA testing.
She was a Juneau-Douglas High School graduate and worked as a wait person and maid. She was a shareholder of Sealaska and Goldbelt.
"Toni had a big heart, kind spirit, was a good friend to many people and will be sincerely missed," her family said.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Leo Navarro.
She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Hinds, of Anacortes, Wash.; son, Randy Navarro; and brother, Mike Dude, of Concord, Calif.
A memorial potluck for all of Navarro's friends and loved ones in Juneau will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Mountain View Apartments, 895 W. 12th St., in the Community Room. Music will be provided by Nancy Murphy.
