FAIRBANKS - The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District has extended the school year by one day and turned a teacher work day into a regular class day to make up for time lost to an ice storm last week.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports the last day of classes will be May 19 rather than May 18.

Officials said Feb. 7 will be a regular class day instead of a teacher work day.
