The status of Alaska and Pacific Northwest ski areas include:

Eaglecrest Ski Area, Juneau: Opens at 9 a.m. Friday. Ptarmigan and Hooter lifts will operate about 9 a.m.-4 p.m. through Monday. Platter Pull and the tubing hill will open when conditions allow. Snow cover is limited in some areas, so watch out for hazards.

Snow depth is about 8 inches at the base and about 75 inches on top and more snow is expected.

The cafeteria and the rental shop are open. Lessons are available, although classes for beginners will wait for the opening of the Platter Pull. The shop has installed a new ski/snowboard tuner from Wintersteiger. Call 790-2002 for details.
