The Alaska Division of Elections is a first-class outfit. I greatly appreciate the hard work of Lt. Gov. Ulmer and everyone working at the division. They are prompt, courteous and efficient.
Whoever is decorating the Christmas tree across from Fred Meyer has put smiles on everybody's faces. They should be praised and maybe it's the rest of us who should clean it up after the holidays instead of worrying about whether they will.

I think David Benton, Lori Telfer and the other individuals who have dedicated long hours and personal resources to making the Point Retreat Lighthouse a national and state treasure should be commended. I can only assume that negative comments are based on misinformation. I urge each resident to call the National Lighthouse Association to find out about the historic restoration that is being done.

To any irresponsible duck hunters in the Mendenhall wetlands, keep shooting toward houses, guys. The more you hit, the sooner your privileges will be taken away. The city will have no choice but to close duck hunting in the wetlands.

I can't believe school is starting next year on Aug. 22. My kids work. We can't manage that early in the summer. It's going to hurt them, it's going to hurt our family, it's going to hurt industry in Juneau. It's wrong. School should start a little later.
