The Juneau Assembly will vote Monday on its own recommendations to re-appoint the incumbents serving on the city's Planning Commission and Bartlett Regional Hospital Board of Directors.

The Assembly's meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in its chambers at 155 S. Seward St.

The Assembly, meeting Thursday as the city's Human Resources Committee, interviewed six people for the three open seats on the Planning Commission and eight people for the three seats open on the hospital board.

Terms for planning commissioners Mark Pusich, Jim Scholz and Jacquelyn Fowler expired last month. All applied for reappointment to the three-year position. The position includes a monthly stipend of $150.

Pusich, a civil engineer with R&M Engineering, wrote that he wanted to continue to give his time to the community. He has served on the commission for six years.

Scholz, regional sales manager for transportation company Northland Services, wrote that he wanted to continue to bring a pro-business perspective to the planning process. He has served on the commission for 1 1/2 years.

Fowler, a state administrative employee, wrote that she has enjoyed the year she has been on the commission and wanted to continue. She noted that her experience on the Cordova Planning Commission prepared her for the Juneau post.

Also applying for the Planning Commission, Nancy Waterman wrote that she has been active in community issues, including those related to transportation and schools.

Also applying were Terry Brenner, a retired engineer and land surveyor, and Larry Bauer, who wrote that his background selling real estate would be an asset to the commission.

Assembly members also are recommending that Scott Spickler, Ed Flanagan and Ronald Lorensen continue to serve on the hospital board.

Spickler, who works for New York Life Insurance, wrote that he wants to see current projects through to completion. He has served on the board for four years.

Flanagan, a self-employed consultant, wrote that he would like to put his experience to good use and see implementation of a new strategic plan. He has served on the board for six years.

Lorensen, an attorney who has served on the board for seven years, wrote that he wants to continue to be involved in serving the community.

Also applying for the board is Dave W. Williams, a state employee who notes he has experience with employee health matters and is interested in a better Juneau.

William Jacobi, a rural letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, wrote that he has a desire to improve the community.

Ruth Maller, who describes herself as a housewife and mother, wrote that she wants to bring a consumer's perspective to the Bartlett mission.

Jill Sandelben, a program director for Catholic Community Service, expressed an interest in long-term health care issues.

Dony Cryts, a state employee, wrote that he previously worked at Bartlett and is looking for an opportunity to serve the community.
