... for the care packages to troops
To Gale Sinnott, CCRW, Juneau Family Readiness Group and all the businesses and individuals who contributed to the Support Our Troops Day and the care packages sent, thank you.
My name is CW4 William (Bill) F. Clutton, and I am a member of B Company, Det. 1, 1-207th Aviation, part of the Alaska Army National Guard out of Juneau that was deployed to Iraq. I am stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Courage in the northwest corner of Mosul. I am sorry it has taken so long to get this thank you note to you, but know that I have thought about all of you every day since I received my package, nearly a month ago.
The thoughtfulness and generosity of all involved is overwhelming. I have lived in Alaska since 1983 and have called Juneau home since 1991. It never ceases to amaze me how wonderful the people who live in this state and in this community are - how they all pull together and support each other, no matter what the cause. It is why I chose Juneau as my home and why I plan to stay there. It is truly like one big extended family, and I thank all of you for that.
The items you sent were all wonderful. While I wanted to keep them all to myself, I chose to share most of them with other soldiers over here who have not received such a wonderful treat from their communities. They all think Juneau must be a pretty great place to have folks I don't even know send me things as a way of saying thank you. I couldn't agree with them more.
We all miss our families and friends, but we know we have a job to do. We are working hard to do it. The packages you sent and the thoughts and support that came with them certainly make this job a lot easier. I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for your thoughtfulness, caring and concern. Take care, and we will all see you again in Juneau, soon.
