ANCHORAGE - A fourth man has joined a lawsuit accusing a former Anchorage Catholic priest of sexual assault.
An updated lawsuit accusing the Rev. Francis Murphy was filed Monday in Anchorage Superior Court.
The plaintiffs, identified only as Joseph Does 1-4, now involve two sets of teenage boys molested 16 years apart, claimed their attorney, Ken Roosa.
The lawsuit alleges that in February 1964 Murphy rubbed a lubricant over the nude bodies of two of the boys - including the latest plaintiff when he was 15 years old - and tried to get them inside a weather balloon, with the ruse of flying them over Anchorage, Roosa said.
The two other boys, according to the lawsuit, were fondled or molested in the early 1980s.
Roosa said the significance of these two sets of boys is that "each guy has somebody else who saw the molestation take place. Very unusual you ever have an eyewitness to molestation," he said.
Each plaintiff is seeking at least $100,000 in damages, with the exact amount to be determined at trial.
