Spaghetti fundraiser to be held for Cropley

JUNEAU - Spaghetti feed silent auction fundraiser to benefit Sean Cropley will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 tonight at the Alaska Native Brotherhood Hall, 320 W. Willoughby Ave.

Cropley, a Juneau-Douglas High School graduate, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in early August. A member of the National Guard, he is married and has a 1-year-old daughter. This fundraiser is to assist with purchasing a car and living expenses.

The event will feature a dessert and silent auction, door prizes and entertainment.

Many vendors at the recent Public Market donated items for silent auction, as well as the vendors from last weekend at the Mendenhall Mall and the Nugget Mall. Copy Works donated all the posters for this event.

The Rev. Tom Bunnett to preach in December

JUNEAU - The Rev. Tom Bunnett, and his wife Thekla, will join Faith Lutheran Church for the Christmas season.

In addition to serving the congregation the last four summers, the Bunnetts pastored Faith Lutheran Church from 1962-67, when the church and parsonage were built and dedicated.

Bunnett will celebrate Advent with services at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays in December, preceded by a 6 p.m. soup supper in Faith Lutheran Church's social hall. Sunday services are at 10 a.m., followed by a social hour. Christmas Eve service will be at 7 p.m. Christmas Day service will be at 10 a.m. For more information, call 789-9235.

Pediatric dental clinic to be held in Hoonah

HOONAH - The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium Dental Program will host a special Denali KidCare pediatric dental clinic on Dec. 10-14 at the Hoonah Medical Clinic.

This special pediatric clinic will feature dental examination appointments on Dec. 10-11, with follow-up treatment taking place later in the week (Dec. 12-14). The clinic is open for children younger than 18 who are enrolled in the state of Alaska's Denali KidCare program or are on Medicaid. Dr. Joseph Kelly will lead the pediatric dental team for the clinic.

Parents and guardians who wish to have their children participate in this special clinic should call Veronica Dalton with Hoonah Parents As Teachers at 945-3792 to schedule an exam appointment. Denali KidCare is a state program designed to make sure Alaska resident children younger than 18 of working and nonworking parents, and expecting mothers who meet income guidelines, have insurance so they have full access to health care. SEARHC partners with the Denali KidCare program to provide special clinics when pediatric dentists are available.

Foster child sharing tree now on display

JUNEAU - The eighth annual Foster Child Christmas Sharing Tree is on display at the Nugget Mall. Community members have an opportunity to select an ornament from the tree and then purchase an age-appropriate gift for a foster child.

The gift must be placed unwrapped in the decorated box at Hearthside Books. Gifts should be in the box by Dec. 18.

Kennel club sponsors pet photos with Santa

JUNEAU - Capital Kennel Club of Juneau will hold their annual winter fundraiser, Pet Photos with Santa, from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Mendenhall Mall.

Cost is $10, which includes one print. Please bring your clean pet on leash or in a suitable pet carrier.
