Leadership Juneau 2011 is about to begin and the United Way of Southeast Alaska is recruiting. The program offers local citizens the chance to become more effective community leaders.
Any individuals interested in participating are encouraged to visit www.unitedwayseak.org to obtain detailed information and application materials. You can also find a nomination form on the website. The application period ends at noon Dec. 9.
Participants will receive leadership training, local experiential learning opportunities, and the chance to better understand our region's government, business, and non-profit communities. Interacting with local leaders and peers, each person will gain a more complete perspective on what it means to be a community leader.
The cost of the program is $399 for the five-month program. The Kathy Vilandre Memorial Scholarship, the MacDonald Family Foundation, The Juneau Empire, Leadership Juneau Alumnus Sheri Williams and Loren Jones have donated funds to help eligible students with their fees if economics is an issue.
"More importantly, we want quality individuals willing to give of their time and energy," said Brenda Hewitt, United Way of Southeast Alaska President.
