What is mediation panel trying to hide?

Posted: Friday, December 08, 2000

Hugh Malone is doing the right thing in trying to get the mediation meetings on public record. I am thankful that he has the courage to pursue this for all of us here in Juneau. I wonder exactly what it is that the noise mediation panel (excluding P&Q which wants open meetings) has to hide from the public. The public certainly has a right to know what decisions are being made in our behalf. To correct one error reported in the paper, not all of the participants in the panel agreed to the ground rule which precluded taping the proceedings. The Peace and Quiet Coalition representative did not agree to this ground rule. A subtle but important point.

Thank you Hugh.
