Man to go on trial for toddler death

FAIRBANKS - A Fairbanks man charged with second-degree murder in the death of his former girlfriend's toddler son is opting for a trial instead of entering a plea.

Travonti Osbey was expected to plead guilty Friday.

Osbey's attorney said he discussed the matter with his 25-year-old client and that Osbey made the decision to go to trial after careful consideration.

Osbey is accused of killing 21-month-old Tarayvien Isaias Prescott in August 2007.

The boy was found not breathing and with a broken arm. He died a few days later.
