GRAYLING - Alaska State Troopers say searchers are looking for the body of a missing 33-year-old Grayling man whose snowmobile was found in open water on the Yukon River.

Troopers say searchers on Sunday recovered the snowmobile belonging to Alvin Maillelle Jr., who was reported overdue a day after he set out for Anvik, a one-hour trip.

Before calling troopers Thursday evening, searchers from both western Alaska villages looked for Maillelle but were thwarted by a blizzard and much open water on the river. The next day, searchers found Maillelle's helmet.

Troopers say the search is now a body recovery effort.
