Juneau police said they arrested a man Friday night on assault and weapons charges after a partially disassembled rifle discharged in an apartment. No one was hurt, police said.
Michael Timothy Whiting, 34, was charged with three counts of felony third-degree assault, felony weapons misconduct, and misdemeanor weapons misconduct. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
Police said a scuffle had developed at about 8:30 p.m. between neighbors in Madsen Apartments on Glacier Highway over noise from a party. During the scuffle, a partially disassembled rifle discharged into the ceiling, police said.
