The new Ketchikan Gateway Borough airport ferry Oral Freeman will be decked out in Christmas lights and join in the Dec. 23 Christmas Boat Parade.
Borough Assembly member George Lybrand offered to pay the expense of outfitting the boat from the Assembly salary he has chosen not to collect since his election in 1999.
Transportation Director David Allen had recommended that Interim Borough Manager Gary Paxton not go ahead with a proposal to enter the new ferry in the parade due to cost.
When Lybrand offered to donate his salary, Paxton said: "It will be in the parade."
